I’m only slightly joking, but seriously – who doesn’t need a little help with anxiety and some balance in their life? We live in a stressed-out era. Two-thirds of Americans are worried about the future of our country and with the current news cycle – North Korea, Trump, Russia, and nuclear weapons testing (!) –  I can only predict this percentage will increase.

If the 24-hour news cycle is causing you stress, the APA recommends putting your phones away and taking a break from the media. That’s easier said than done. Can you remember the last time you spent more than an hour away from your phone? I can’t either. For those of us not ready to embark on a digital detox, there is CBD.

CBD’s most far reaching and common application is for anxiety. CBD has so many of the positive effects people are looking for and it treats a wide range of issues. It’s the newest holistic wellness super-ingredient. How many products can say that? Plus, for those in the US you can try it free here.

When you think of CBD, you may think of marijuana, but CBD is the extract from cannabis that won’t get you high. It’s a non-psychoactive that is purely therapeutic.CBD has a subtler effect where you feel more relaxed and less anxious. You’re not “stoned” by any means, just more chill and in control of your thoughts. It takes the edge off your day, but also has countless medicinal benefits.

Until recently, it’s been difficult to fund cannabis research so no one is 100% sure exactly how CBD works physiologically. What we do know is that it plays a regulatory role in many of the body’s systems. It helps our body find balance or homeostasis by working with our nervous, immune and endocrine systems.

For example, with CBD many users have:
·      reduced extreme and chronic pain
·      decreased their use of expensive prescriptions
·      relieved nausea
·      lowered depression
·      mellowed out severe emotions like anxiety and anger

With so many benefits, what’s the best way to try CBD?

Honestly, it’s really a personal preference. The biggest difference between methods is the time of absorption and how long it lasts.

CBD Tincture - Who needs CBD? EVERYONE
Oils or tinctures are my preferred method. They act quickly and become available in the body in only 30 to 60 minutes. The effects typically last about 3 to 5 hours.

Edibles or CBD in pill form do last longer, about 4 to 6 hours, but take about 2 hours to become available in the body since they’re absorbed gastro-intestinally.

CBD Gummies - Who needs CBD? EVERYONE

Since gummies fall into the edible category, they share the same timeline as capsules. The biggest difference is that gummies are a good option for people who can’t swallow pills wells.  They also may be more quickly absorbed because you chew them before they’re digested. Plus, they taste good!

Just know that CBD doesn’t always work instantaneously. You can’t feel it “kick in” right away like THC. Most providers recommend taking it systemically and consistently in the form of an edible or tincture. Try a method out for a week or so before deciding if its right for you.

The industry still needs more research, but this is a new health trend that shows no sign of stopping!
If you’re in the US, you can try CBD here for free.
