Late Wednesday night, rapper Drake and streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins raked in more than 600,000 concurrent viewers while playing “Fornite” — currently the most popular survival co-op shooting game on Twitch — to break the record for the most viewers watching a single-player stream. It shattered the previous record of 380,000.
Later, Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster and rapper Travis Scott also jumped in on the fun. The result? Drake dropping weapons for Ninja. Travis Scott asking JuJu for Band-Aids. Ninja laughing at Scott’s requests for Band-Aids. Drake saying “God’s Plan” (the name of his new hit single) after reviving Scott.
The stream was so popular that it even took over the top slots of Twitter’s trending list. Not only does this bode well for Ninja, but it’s good news for “Fortnite,” a game that’s eager to dive into the esports arena.
